Designing with Succulents

​This past Thanksgiving, my twin sister gave me the task of creating centerpieces for our Walton-style Thanksgiving table that would seat family and close friends (no pressure). She also wanted a large arrangement for her coffee table. Theme? Succulents - my fav!

 

I live in the Central Valley and succulents are bountiful. Well, I found out that plenty of garden centers and nurseries sell succulents, but very few offer ready-made arrangements in beautiful, unique ceramic pottery. 

 

I went to four nurseries (three local and one in San Francisco) and purchased various succulents (rock succulents, haworthias, paddle plants, sedums and echeverias), cactus potting soil, decorative rocks and ceramic planters.  I hauled everything to my backyard and used my patio table as my potting bench. For two weeks I worked on my arrangements. It was fun, mentally rewarding and my creative spirit left this orbit! 

 

I was looking for succulent arrangements to purchase, but I couldn't find any so I created my own. And that's the how and the why Emazingrace Designs was created. 

 

There is so much to learn about succulents and cacti (there is a difference). And the wonderful websites that others have created as an outlet for their creativity is inspiring. I never thought homework could be so fun and rewarding.  I will post pictures of my latest arrangements from time to time, but please be patient. I can't quit my day job just yet!
